The RIBCOR skates have been traded from Reebok to CCM! Living up to the reputation that Reebok skates have earned as being among the best out of box fit, Reebok has handed the torch over to CCM’s RIBCOR series skate to continue that tradition. CCM’s RIBCOR 48K was designed to give the player Mind Blowing Agility with the type of control that allows you to turn on a dime. They are easy to break in, offer good flexibility and of course allow for a unique type of customized fit through the use of its next generation pump, Advanced Pump® technology.
For those of you that aren't familiar with that technology, the Advanced Pump® allows you to control the amount of air that you circulate into the air bladders around the ankles, thus enhancing heel lock by eliminating negative space and giving you the option to adjust for fit in a matter of seconds between shifts. It is more efficient than its predecessor as it fills quicker and holds more air. The RIBCOR 48K has a tapered fit in the ankle and is slightly narrower in the heel and the forefoot in comparison to the Tacks and RBZ lines from CCM. You'll also find the Skate Lock feature on this skate, which allows for variability within two separate lacing zones - lower and upper.
CCM uses its RIBCOR Flex + Durafilm construction in the quarter. This nylon reinforced EPP foam core reacts very well to heat molding, and will help reduce break in time. The two elements of the agility profile that contribute to forward and backward flexibility are the boot cut and the 13° forward lean (RBZ is 10°, while Tacks are 16°). Heel lock is achieved from a combination of a tapered fit in the ankle, the use of internal ankle foams, the Skate Lock feature and the Advanced Pump®.
The tongue is made of pro felt with a lightweight EVA foam core and has an external molded lace bite protector. The RIBCOR 48K has the ventilated full lightweight and low profile carbon and fiberglass composite outsole which helps reduce weight in a skate and provides excellent rigidity under the boot. This is where you'll find the SpeedBlade + 4.0 holder which is aptly named because of its additional 4.0mm height which provides a significantly deeper angle of attack for tighter turns. This is the same holder that was introduced on the CCM RBZ skates and also features SpeedRibs near the top of the holder, the structure of which helps increase torsional rigidity. The nice all black tonal look of the RIBCOR 48K is complimented nicely with the corrosion-resistant SpeedBlade Black runner.
In addition to just looking good, this blade also comes loaded with performance benefits. It has undergone a Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) process to give it a Titanium Carbo-Nitride finish - that's a mouthful, what does it mean? It increases surface hardness which translates to holding an edge longer and reduces the likelihood that it will chip or flake. Additionally, the high quality finish provides lower friction which in turn gives you a faster glide and more speed.
Agility, comfort and performance come together in these sharp looking RIBCOR 48K skates from CCM.

I've been on the 48k for about 6 months. I'm only coaching now, so I don't play as hard as in the past. I don't know that it matters to this review, though. I wear an 11 shoe, so got these in a 9D, and punch out the sides right behind the toe box. The fit is OK, at best. The boot is molding to my foot weirdly. On my forefoot, they don't secure well at all. The pumps broke down after only a couple of months. Neither one holds air, at this point. The steel is garbage. I get one practice, at best, and it needs resharpened. The steel feels really good though, when sharp. Even though the boot fits like crap, they are extremely durable. My turns and transitions are much tighter with these skates. The steel is much faster than what was in my 20k's. Id definitely buy them again. However I'd go with an EE width. Hockey On!!!Review by Matthew.firstname.lastname@example.org (Posted on 1/29/2017)
Have only been playing in these for about 2 months and they have been great. Easy to break in for me after a few weeks of playing and fit like a running shoe.Review by Ryan (Posted on 11/22/2016)
i really love this skates, they are really comfortable and i think they have a great design, but the only thing i dont like about them is that the left foot pump is leaking.Review by harold (Posted on 11/13/2016)
These are definitely the best skates ive ever bought. Very comfortable and easy to bake. This skates have agreat desigh and color scheme that is a "head turner." The new steel makes your skating more agile and quick.Review by lakings98 (Posted on 7/24/2016)
Amazing high quality skate at a great price point. I have only had them for about a month, but I notice a substantial upgrade from my CLs. I have a very narrow foot, so after baking these skates fit great. Especially like the heel fit and lace lock. The only downsides I have noticed was the initial break in was rough for me,but after 3 or 4 hard skates they now feel amazing. They are also a tad heavier than I would like. Overall a very high quality skate at a very reasonable price.Review by BrodyBear (Posted on 7/24/2016)
I have funny shaped feet. After two hours of trying on skates it was down to two skates. The Bauer supreme 180's or these. I went with these. After 3 months of using these, they are falling apart badly and broke in weirdly. The black coating doesn't work so I am now replacing the steal from constantly sharpening. The pumps are now also leaking and not holding their air. Very poor skates for the talk they had about them.Review by Dean Steen (Posted on 7/24/2016)
