The Tacks name is legendary among hockey skates. Boasting a rich history dating all the way back to 1905, we knew any new boot to bear the “Tackaberry” name would have a lot to live up to. Let us be the first to say, CCM has delivered!
The heart and soul of the CCM Tacks Junior boot is its new ATTACKFRAME™ technology. Comprised of extra-stiff, composite reinforcements in both the heel and eyelet facing, these attack fibers store and release energy as the player flexes forward; and when combined with CCM’s Formula T6 Pro Core, the result is an ultra-responsive boot with explosive speed.
The new SpeedBlade 4.0 Holder design provides an additional four millimeters of height (when compared to the older E-Pro holder), which allows for a greater angle of attack and more aggressive turns. Complementing the SpeedBlade 4.0 Holder is CCM’s new HyperGlide Runners, which consist of a hard, mirror-polished stainless steel that holds an edge well, while reducing friction on the ice -equating to less drag and greater speed. The holders are then riveted to a stiff Carbon/Glass Composite outsole which helps increase torsional rigidity and maximize energy transfer.
CCM’s commitments to fit, comfort, and attention to detail are easily found in the new Tacks Junior skate. The Contoured Fit profile provides a close fit in the heel and ankle with a medium width throughout the boot. A pro grade, Durable Clarino lines the inside of the boot, with additional Clarino helping to smooth out high abrasion areas at the high ankle, as well as the top of the tendon guard. The synthetic, leather-like material is smooth to the touch, and is still an industry standard in terms of both durability, as well as moisture wicking properties. Add a Pro Felt Tongue with internal EPE foam as well as external lace bite protection, and you have a boot that provides lightweight performance with superior fit and comfort.
Last but not least, Custom Support Insoles let you choose your level of arch support. This is a small improvement that will make a tremendous difference in terms of comfort, support, and power transfer for many skaters who, up until now, had to resort to aftermarket footbeds for a true custom fit.

Skate Weights are determined using a size 8.0 regular width senior skate, a size 3.0 regular width junior skate, or a 11.0 regular width youth skate.
I consistently wear a size 8 men's shoe but fit the 5.5 Jr size in Tacks with a tiny bit of room in the toe. I had to wear the skates about 8-10 hrs before they felt great, now they feel better every time I wear them which averages 6-8 hrs a week. Very light, stiff, and provide good protection from blocked pucks.Review by Freeheel (Posted on 7/24/2016)
