Biomechanics are simple -- The further away the weight that needs to be moved, the harder it is to move that weight. On a hockey skate, the runner is the furthest away from the core muscles of the legs that power your stride. Therefore, weight savings in the runner are amplified. At full extension of the skating stride, taking 1 gram out of the runner is equivalent to removing 4 grams from the boot. Those precious grams are needed in the boot to provide support for explosive energy transfer.

    Light, fast and worth it

Was a little skeptical at first but after I got them and replaced my old blades I could not believe the difference. No need to have them rocketed and the balance was perfect for my size and ability. You do need to make sure that your sharpener knows what they are doing. Enjoy.

    Great blades!

I love these, but people all over my state seem to dislike them. I love how light yet strong they are.

The only con seems to be for the people sharpening them. Apparently they are harder to clamp and get level than a regular blade.

    Great runner

Great runner, just make sure the person that sharpens them knows what they are doing!

    Hard to sharpen otherwise great

Would recommend get the best sharpener to fit the chuck properly.

    Love these blades!

Simply put, these are great blades. Just be sure your local shop understands how to sharpen them. I've learned that the best way is just to tell the sharpening guy to use a goalie jig. Then they do fine. Otherwise they'll curse the different blade thickness (and you!) and you'll get a bad edge.

These are nice but for a short time. after a month of using them plastic started to touch ice when i was taking tight turns. they are hard to sharpen and the sharpen doesnt last as long as normal runners. they do look cool though.

    Decent Blade

Been using these in an original pair of CCM U+ Pros (best skate I have ever owned)

My Sharpener has told me that this is the last time he will sharpen them.

I checked and the the steel is at the plastic near the toe. Might need to cut some of the plastic away to finish them off. Its funny because the skates are just about worn out as well. THe toe cap is broken and the first rivet has fallen out. ( I already have a pair of new u+12s sharpened and ready to go but don't want to give the old ones till i absolutely have to.

I think it was 10 or 12 sharpening over 3.5Years.

I play about twice a week with summers off.

I am not sure if it is just me or the blades, but I would go 6 months or more on one sharpening, without much loss of performance. And unless I totally lost an edge there was no need to sharpen.

I don't ever recall getting that much life out of a single sharpening with any other skate so I think they do use good steel.

My only complaint is you can't just drop them off for sharpening. I always had to leave a note asking for the one guy that I knew would not mess them up.

    Mostly problematic

I don't usually write reviews, but I have to say that these runners have been very problematic for me. Like other reviewers, my sharpening gurus have had problems putting a good edge on them (plastic interferes with the jig, apparently). My normal 3/4" radius has been a complete failure (though a 5/8" has been acceptable)and I'm not sure why. My main problem is they simply don't hold an edge and seem particularly susceptible to edge failure that renders them useless.

    great runners!

These runners are great, but I couldn't just take the bolts out of my skates and change them. I had to dremel out the hole because they weren't lined up right.

The 5/8 edge on these runners is the best. The rink where I play wouldn't sharpen them for anything, so I went to playitagain sports and they sharpend them. It is worth it. These runners are fast. The edges are hard when turning and almost invisible when stopping.

    Awesome runners!!!

I recently installed these to replace the original CCM Performance Lite (scallop-cut) runners and these are considerably lighter! As far as sharpening, I sharpen my own runners using a Wissota 911 with an 80 grit stone. The steel used in these runners are HARD. You must use a light touch and dress the stone more often than usual since the runner cut a groove in the stone fairly easily after about 20-30 passes. But with a freshly dressed stone they will cut very smoothly! It is slightly difficult to hand hone after sharpening because of the narrow exposure of runner on the sides, but slow, steady, and light touch will get it done. As far as installing the runners: they fit EXACTLY to the E-Blade Pro holder, so after removing your old runners clean the empty channel in the holder with a toothbrush and vacuum. Install the front end first (notice it has a HOLE vs. the SLOT in the rear for adjustability.). Work the runner into the holder channel and press it in by putting pressure on the boot while the runner is on a block of soft wood. Install the "nut" into the holder through the holder from the SAME side that it was removed from (the hole is LARGER on one side for tkhis reason) as far as it will go. If the head part of the nut is flat, you luckily installed it correctly on the first shot! If not, (again while pressing on boot with the runner on soft wood) use an adjustable jaw plier and it should easily go in the rest of the way with the head lying flat. Install the screw all the way, but do NOT tighten yet. Install the rear following the same directions and install the screw (using BLUE Loctite) and tighten it down. Now remove the front screw and apply the Loctite to the screw and tighten. Much easier to install than describe! I am extremely happy with these runners and will definitely purchase more (while they're still making them)! For sharpening tips CCM has a video on YouTube under Rocket Runners.
