When Easton set out to create the second generation of the Mako line of sticks, they still wanted it to enhance the concept of quick hands and speed to get the shot off, but they placed a renewed focus on increasing responsiveness and shot accuracy. They delivered with a MAKO M3 II stick that is responsive, accurate and considerably lighter than its original MAKO M3 predecessor.
Easton optimized the lay-up of carbon fiber and fiberglass in the shaft, which is the main reason the second generation M3 is lighter than the original M3. Essentially they removed material from where it was not needed. The shaft geometry has contoured corners with slightly concave walls with a nice textured finish to them for enhanced grip and feel. The MAKO M3 II is only available in a nice matte finish.
There is noticeable taper as you transition from shaft to blade, which is responsible for the mid-taper kick point.
The blade on the M3 II is similar in internal construction to the blade used on the higher end MAKO and M5 second generation sticks. It uses a multi-rib construction through its micro-bladder process. Basically, this means that there are 3 structural ribs that run the length of the blade with a combination of a bladder and 4 foam core inserts between the ribs. This provides a more durable core to wall bond as well as dampening for a great feel. The difference between this blade and the higher end models is in the wrap, where this MAKO M3 II uses a 3K woven carbon wrap.
You'll find great value in this lighter version of the MAKO M3, with improvements in blade stiffness and shot accuracy. Shoot quickly and confidently.
