For those of you that have been looking for a replacement for your ST, the MAKO M5 II should fit the bill. Easton's original focus for this stick was to create a high performance stick that also had great strength. They delivered with a MAKO M5 II stick that is responsive, accurate and considerably lighter than its original MAKO M5 predecessor.
Strength in the shaft can be attributed to the thicker walled graphite construction. The geometry for the senior size has square corners with slightly concave walls. This shaft geometry is very popular among Easton's pro players, and it allows you to get a nice secure grip of your stick. In addition to the control you get from this geometry, Easton has added a nice texture to the shaft. The MAKO M5 II is available in a nice matte finish or with the Grip finish.
A look at the transition from shaft to blade shows us a very gradual taper which ultimately leads to the low kick point.
Since blade durability and responsiveness were a main area of focus for Easton, they drew on the re-engineering of the RSII blade and essentially use that construction on this MAKO M5 II stick. It's also the same blade construction used on the MAKO II stick. It uses a multi-rib construction through its micro-bladder process. Basically, this means that there are 3 structural ribs that run the length of the blade with a combination of a bladder and 4 foam core inserts between the ribs. This provides a more durable core to wall bond as well as dampening for a great feel. The MAKO M5 II blade uses a braided fiber wrap, however, they've added more of it for additional reinforcement and further strengthening of the blade.
If you are looking for a high performance stick that combines responsiveness, accuracy and strength, the MAKO M5 II could be the one for you.
