    Best shin guard for protection

The straps do not fit well. The strap behind the knee is too narrow and too short - that it cuts off circulation. The lower straps, though neoprene, are far too long and wimpy that they too are ineffective. Simply shortening them does not work because they are also poorly situated. Plain (aftermarket) shin guard straps would work better. Tape works better. The newer Reebok SX100 socks provide pretty good retention tooIn the end I cut the original straps off the shin guards for the above reasons. Reebok needs to fix the strap problem on a premium piece of gear. If they do that, these would garner 5+ stars.

    Great shins, poor straps

Amazing shin guards. Great fit and protection.
They're big to give a nice look rather than flimsy.
Love the inside insert, great molding to fit your leg.

Straps on the other end is a whole other story.

The top strap (behind your knee) is badly designed. It's got a plastic hook that gets undone during your game.
The bottom strap is way too low on your shin and therefore does not hold very well.

I dont recommend this shin for someone who wears them inside the tongue of their skates.
If you wear them over like I do, they'll do fine. Just make sure to use tape or else you won't be happy.

    Good pads

I got these shin pads about a year ago and they have been good. They are way to bulky for me and I feel stupid in pictures with them. They fit pretty good except the straps don't do anything. I have to use way more sock tape now. I used to go through a roll every 3-4 weeks and now i go through a roll every week to week 1/2. They are super protective and fairly durable. I have recently started noticing tears in the bottom liner but its nothing too big.

    Great pads

I have used these shin guards for about 8 games now and I must say these provide great protection and comfort. I took a defenseman's slap shot directly to the shin and shook it off with no problem. As opposed to my old RBK5k I would try to avoid any kind of direct snapshot. I can agree with the other reviews that the straps are a little disappointing. My right one did indeed come off the hook a few times. The bottom straps did however work well being that I am on the slimmer side (5'7 155lbs.) They are also a little bulky, but that could just be that I went from the RBK5k's to these. But in the end these are great pads.

    Best Protection Available

These shins are the best on the market in terms of protection. I have been using them for months now and I am completely willing to stand in front of any shot with them. I have taken a ton of very hard slap shots off these and barely felt the anything.

They are a bit wider than most shin pads out there which I think adds some of the strength but also makes me a bigger target when blocking shots. While they are physically larger than most shin pads they are still relatively very light and allow me to move freely without constraint or discomfort. The stitching and pads inside have help up very well.

My only issue with these pads is the "Lockstrap". This is the strap that goes around your upper calf / just below the knee. It is a bit too thin which means it can bite a bit but that really didn't bother me. My issue is the plastic piece you wrap it through should be a complete circuit. The fact that it is only a hook makes the strap come off when I bend in a certain way. Some times I'll just be standing there and the strap will slide off the hook and I have nothing holding the pad on behind my knee, which means I have to take off my sock and adjust it. I have resorted to using a lot of tape and that solved most of it. This however was a big let down since the price tag is so high on these you would expect everything to be great. The lower straps are great.

Everything besides that one strap is excellent and exceeded my expectations. I would buy again.

    As advertised

These shins are exactly as advertised. Pro level protection with the comfort and fit reebok is known for. I've noticed various feedback from people about the straps. I think there may be some factory inconsistency on these. I tried them on at the store and the top strap barely fit around my knee. The pair I ordered fit great. I had no issues with the straps falling off either.

I am a defenseman and I wanted to upgrade to pads with more protection. That was 100% found in these. These things are the most protective things on the planet! Buuut... They are huuuge! They are bulky, heavy and the strapping system sucks. They are all loose and you can't secure your shin pads properly, so to make up for that you need to use a bunch of sock tape or have compressed socks or smaller socks to tighten them. I look like a goon out there with those boulders. Any how they are still really protective so if you are a huge kid (180+pounds) these are the way to go! If not, get something else

    Great Protection & Comfort!!!!

I'm very particular as an older athlete about my equipment fit, protection, comfort, and yes appearance; I liked these pads so much, I bought a second pair and alternate use...
