  • Sizing Guidelines: Shinguards are measured best while the player is sitting. Shinguards, which are either too long or too short, will result in the knee or instep being exposed and unprotected. Shinguards should be secured with shinguard straps or tape. To fit properly:

    • Determine the level of play
    • Measure from the center of the kneecap to the top of the skate boot
    • Match the player’s shin size to the inches of shinguard

    very protective rec level

We have upgraded from the Supreme 150's sold at Dicks Sporting goods to the S29. While these are a little bulkier which the kids (Peewee Rec) don't typically like they are not heavy. This pair also offers the extra hinge for range of motion, a little more calf protection, and a little more protection from those slapshots off the inside of the knee (vs older cheaper models). My player is on the bigger side so the Vapor line just does not work, the S29's fit well on my 5"0" 115 pounder. We got the 12 inch. We play against higher end rec and some B level teams, I see no need to go any higher in model, in fact this shin guard almost seems overqualified, but he will be in it for the next 3 to 4 inches of height (Bantam years) so we are planning ahead for harder shots off the shin/knee.
