Jr Mystery Sticks legit

My son is a 2nd year PeeWee and he wanted a new stick for the season...we saw this mystery stick option and thought we would take a chance, why not right?
The sticks arrived and both were decent Jr. sticks - we received a Sherwood BPM 150 which was perfect in height, weight, and the curve is great, it's a stick he use as he sprouts up (which he is daily), the second stick was an Easton Stealth C 7.0, another nice stick with a great curve and also light weight, although a bit shorter so it will be his go to this season and the Sherwood as a back up for later in the year as he gets taller. All in all, for $65 it's a total bargain and the mystery of it is fun - way better than dropping $100 on one stick.

Excellent gamble

My U12 daughter broke her game stick near the end of the season. I ordered the 2-pack and told she had to use her backup stick for her second game that day. She used the backup for one game and hated it, so I had to buy a new stick the next morning at the rink for $160.00 (she's a decent player and LOVES the game). The mystery sticks arrived a few days later, earlier than expected. They were both good- an Easton and a Sher-Wood, but we decided to save them for next year. I'd definitely recommend, especially if your player has no particular favorite curve, flex point, etc. The combined retail value of the two sticks we received was about $240.00. Not bad for $60.00!

Ok gamble

I did this gamble for a game stick for my 10 year old daughter. We got the shed wood 150. With all the warrior and Easton sticks possible to get we were a little disappointed but the stick has worked well for her. Ok.gamble for 30 bucks I guess.

Good Value

Took a chance, needed a backup stick for my Squirt, received an Easton Stealth c7.0 ($90 value). My son took it to practice and likes the stick a lot, sounds like he likes it more than his Warrior Dynasty HD4. Was it worth it for $35? Sure was for our needs!

Great for someone new to hockey

This is my son’s first year playing hockey and his coach said he need a new stick. He told me what right hand curve and that was it. The chat feature was very handy and informative. Ordered 2 of the mystery sticks so that my son could try them and start to develop his preferences. Got 2 great Easton sticks. One of them his coach even uses. Great for first time buyers

not worth it for us

We ordered to sticks for Christmas and both were cheap Eastons. for $2 more i could have just ordered the stick. I at least expected not to get 2 of the same sticks. Just not real worth it.

Fun but understand it's a gamble

Hockey Monkey has always been great to me and I love their service so trying this just looked like a fun think to do. First I will say i understand and you should to there are no guarantees with the mystery stick purchase so you really cant complain about it, it is a gamble and you should understand the rules.

My son plays 8U and I wanted to get him a years worth of sticks at Christmas so this seemed like a cool option. He doesn't have a favorite style, brand, or curve so we were open to anything.

I was going to order two sticks but decided on three thinking maybe the more you ordered the better chance they threw in a higher end stick, apparently that doesn't work though. The sticks I got were middle to low end, two selling for $59.98 and the third for $49.98. Yes we all know they list a retail price that is higher but that's not really what the price is. After the 30% discount that would be applied I saved about $33.00, or maybe 25%. Ok, that doesn't make it sound like a great deal but I'm still ok with it. And keep reading.

The sticks I received were all very serviceable and really about the only thing I would prefer to change is the flex (45-50 range), but my kid isn't bending sticks yet so it really doesn't matter. All sticks had a very common curve, pretty much what I have always gotten. All the sticks were of good quality and although not what I would of picked out if buying individually they are in that ball park so I'm ok with that. I ordered them Wednesday mid day and they arrived the next day mid day so lights out on shipping.

The only real negative (and I understood going into it) is they use the sticks value as the "retail" price and I think that's a little disingenuous considering Hockey Monkeys (actual) selling price is generally in the same range as most other sellers and "retail" more-often-than-not an arbitrary number.

I would recommend to someone to try this but don't see it as a thriller of a deal. I can't say now if I would do it again because this time next year my son may be more selective on his gear and want to pick his own.

Perfect for our needs

We've used the mystery stick option twice and each time we've gotten a quality stick for my son, which he is happy with. First was a Easton Synergy 80 and most recent we got the Easton Stealth C7.0. Both have performed to his expectations and saved us a little money in the end.
