Details

True’s next generation of X-Series hockey sticks comes in the 2017 ACF line. This type of stick will fall under the precision shooter’s category thanks to patented XCORE technology and complimenting features showcased in the XC5 ACF. For those who are curious the A–C-and F means Accuracy, Control, and Feel. This stick was designed to allow you to seek pinpoint accuracy while maximizing shot velocity, puck control, and puck feel. Here’s the inside scoop into TRUE’s XC5 ACF.

Getting right into the stick’s construction, TRUE continued to utilize a high pressure clave molding process which they patented as Axenic Technology. The advantage of using this manufacturing process is that it yields a true one-piece hockey stick which results in very consistent internal walls, shaft shape, and of course a great balance and feel. Working alongside the Axenic Technology, SmartPly Technology optimizes performance, weight, and impact strength. SmartPly tech is a laminate design that is used with up to 25 inner layers of unidirectional carbon fiber; the way the fibers are angled and the order of those angles are what control torsional stiffness and protect from impact damage while maximizing performance and durability. All very impressive technology featured at this price point!

The XC5 ACF is composed mainly of a carbon fiber and fiber glass blend which is organized into a 3K weave. This stick has a graduated mid-flex profile for optimal performance and feel in all game situations. Moving down to the blade, we’re going to see the patented XCORE technology. This is a compressible urethane insert embedded into the core of the blade starting in the heel and extending just past the center. This technology will produce an average of 30% more rotational puck spin leading to less flutter shots and more precise and accurate shots. XCORE technology also dampens and cradles the puck during passing and puck handling providing even more control and feel. This is the huge component to what gives the XC5 ACF its accuracy, control and feel.

New to the XSERIES of sticks is going to be Braided Rib Technology (BRT) first seen in TRUE’s SBP lineup. These are seamless braided tubes located at the center and bottom of the blade that act as a dual bridge support for the blade core. This tech helps to produce the longest lasting and most consistent blade TRUE has ever made and is up to 50% stronger than its predecessor! Benefits of this modified BRT blade prevent the foam core from breaking down and losing its stiffness which will also help provide its accuracy and precision.

The XC5 ACF certainly features an innovative design and proven technology at a fraction of the cost. If you are looking for a stick that will provide (ACF) unmatched accuracy, unmatched puck control, and unmatched feel…TRUE’s XC5 ACF is sure to be the total package at a value cost.

Excellent Choice for a First Time Stick

I purchased this stick about a year ago when I started playing hockey. I had used an older stick for a while and wanted to get a brand new one.

I was shocked at how light this stick was compared to the previous one I had. This has been the perfect stick for me as a beginner. It's got a great flex and it's easy to control because of the lightweight.

The biggest con for me is that the bottom of the blade has started to chip away after using it weekly for a year. I usually just keep it covered with extra tape to help prevent extra chipping away. I figured that would eventually be an issue anyhow.

Good brand, not a great model

I’ve purchased 3 True sticks within the last year and I really like their durability compared to CCM which I had been regularly purchasing and the first 2 had a high performance level, but I did not care for this model, it was also heavier unfortunately. I’d recommend higher end model.

I love it

I love this stick. Although it’s heavier than other comparable sticks, it’s not as heavy as I expected. It has a really good snap and delivers good slap shots. For this price, you cannot get anything better.

My favorite stick!

I recently returned to playing hockey after a 20 year absence, so I was used to wood and first generation composite two piece shafts and blades. After my 23 year old innovative shaft broke, I started using a Bauer NSX stick however I didn't really like how pingy the blade was (it was difficult to receive passes). After reading about the XCORE insert, I bought this stick and I love it (helps that I bought it on clearance with an extra discount code to make the stick even cheaper)! The core makes it easier to accept passes and allow for more accurate shots. Using this stick, I average about 1 goal and two assists per game in my beer league. I have been using this stick since April and played throughout the summer and the stick has held up and feels the same as when I bought it. I'm waiting for the '19 model to come down in price so I can pick up when of those too.

Junk!

Great performing stick when new, but two out of two sticks broken within two months. Are these things made out of graham cracker? I wouldn't recommend - spend your money on a more reputable brand. I had high hopes for True, but won't order another one after these duds.

Light, snappy... for about a week

I've gone through two of these. I play twice a week, no slapshots. Both felt great out of the box, but got soft at the kickpoint after a few games to the point of being unusable.

Good stick

Got this stick in early July and I absolutely love it. It is a great stick for the price and they just dropped it again. I'm mad I didn't wait till they dropped the price but it is worth what I paid in early July. I'll buy another one for sure. Get this stick!
