New for the 2018 season Warrior Covert QRE SL Grip Intermediate Hockey Stick. With its reduced weight and, appearance redesigned, and an adjusted taper, this is Warrior’s most advanced stick to date, optimized for a lightning-quick shot release.

The SL in the name stands for Super Light, which is fitting, as this stick weighs in at a very impressive 400 grams. Along with being lighter than its predecessor, the Warrior Covert QRE SL Grip Intermediate Hockey Stick has changed appearance wise as well. Although the design and graphics are the same as the Covert QREdge, Warrior has gone with a different color palette and now use grey and solver accents over their blue coloring and used a softer orange coloring throughout, giving the stick an overall darker, sleeker look.

Moving to the construction of the Covert QRE SL Intermediate, Warrior went with their True1 Phantom design. This means that the entire shaft is a true one-piece build! This is paired with their Minimus 1200 Carbon Fiber on the interior, which provides a reduction in weight, but also makes the Covert QRE SL Stick that much more durable. And, for this stick, Warrior has re-layered these carbon fiber materials, shaving off 16 grams compared to the QREdge. These two features together provide players with a stick that is lighter, more durable, and more responsive than ever before.

Warrior went with a texturized grip for their new Covert QRE SL Intermediate. They paired this with their straight side walls with rounded corners. The Covert line of sticks from Warrior is designed to have one of the quickest, if not THE quickest, releases on the market. The Covert QRE SL Stick is no different. This is thanks to Warrior’s new redesigned 3D Edge Taper. This taper drives flex energy through the hosel providing lightning quick releases on your shots all while remaining deadly accurate.

The redesigned taper of the Covert QRE SL Intermediate Hockey Stick goes hand in hand with the SoftCore X Foam Core constructed blade. This material is 20% lighter and more responsive than its predecessor. They also use their Twin-Spar Blade Structure which is the use of two carbon fiber support structures to reinforce the blade, increasing longevity and durability.

The Covert QRE SL Intermediate features Warrior’s popular low kick-point. This stick is optimized for players who take quick wrist shots right around the hashmarks.

Thanks to the restructured carbon fiber layout and the redesigned taper, the Covert QRE SL Intermediate is Warrior’s most advanced stick to date. If you are a player looking for a stick with the quickest release possible, in an extremely lightweight package, look no further than the Warrior Covert QRE SL Grip Intermediate Hockey Stick!

light, quick relwas

Testing it out and the puck flies off the blade. Got the P28 70 flex and it weighs in at 387g. Super great feel in the hands and stick handling. A little whippy for a 70 flex. My only con is I was told it was 57 in. Its actually 55 1/2".

Great weight and balance

Picked this stick up on sale after being a big fan of the Alpha QX. Wanted to try a new low kick stick having used Easton’s Stealth line for years (RIP Stealth CX). Like my experience with the Alpha line, Warrior does not not disappoint! I’ve been tinkering a lot with sticks and flex over the last few years and found that given how much I tend to cut sticks down (I’m 5’8”, 165lbs) a 65 flex stick is generally perfect to leverage the whip in a low flex stick and push snaps at the net from top of the circles in. I’ve gone as low as 60 in CCM, but that falls off a cliff in whippyness and feels like a wet noodle. Warrior offers it’s top line sticks in 63 flex, which I was apprehensive about but ends up working out great on the shot side, while somehow maintaining a stiffer feel when moving around and handling the puck in non shooting situations.

Love the weight in the stick and mostly think the lighter the better. I’ve read some reviews where people don’t like how light the blade is and they’ll it ruins the balance of the stick - I don’t have any issues with that at all and got used to this stick very quickly.

I might try a 70 flex next time to compare, but the difference just a few flex can make and the lack of a 65 is what’s kept me from Warrior until now (my QX was 65 flex pro stock, so a little different build and feel).

I’m also rocking a Bauer 2N Pro 65 flex stick, which is what I replaced my Alpha QX with. I picked it up because the Alpha DX was not out yet and I really like the 2N Pro but this makes me want to try the new Alpha DX, especially because it offers the Max Blade height option In the intermediate flex profiles. More sticks (especially the top line ones) need to offer that option in the / intermediate flex lines.

Lightest stick

this is probably the lightest stick i have ever used. it feels a little soft when you put your weight on it when shooting, thus shot have more velocity. i can feel the puck more with its light blade, however, passing the puck will require more power, but it's adaptable for me.

Overall, stick is great for me.

Blades suck

I play tier 2 and the stick lasted only 10 games. Maybe 50 slap shots and 100 snap shots, couple slashes and the blade snapped, no sever torture or anything just split down the middle of the bottom and snapped off.

Great stick

My daughter is a 2nd year bantam currently playing midget travel hockey for 2 teams. She was enamored with Bauer products, however a teammate of hers has a Covert QRL and she has the best range of shots on the team. I researched the Warrior brand and discovered that the Covert line of sticks produced the best (arguably) quick release shots on the market. The size and shape of the shaft fits nicely in her hands as it seems a bit narrower than the Nexus 2N Pro and Vapor XShift (both intermediate) sticks she’s used in the past. Hockey Monkey made the price right...first game with the QRE SL, she had her first multi-goal game. Needless to say, she’s now a Warrior fan too. I see more Warrior brand sticks in the future!

Great Performer, not durable

Love the stick. Responsive and quick. Great for stick handling and fast hard wristers. It came in the mail on Monday and broke on Friday. Hockey Monkey’s Hassle-free warranty return made for a seamless replacement.
