The floating chin cup rides up on the front of my chin, blocks the vents and the exhaled air deflects up against the shield causing extreme fogging. Even with the best anti-fog spray I can buy, it fogs every shift. Furthermore, you have to unbuckle both straps to lift the shield to wipe it - a real annoyance.Review by Jrekker (Posted on 11/14/2016)
For context, I have a 25 year old CCM shield with a fixed chin cup, that gives me virtually zero fogging. In addition, there is a quick release that allows me to quickly lift the shield to wipe, then snap back into place.
I am surprised and extremely disappointed that after 25 years, Bauer has offered an inferior design to a competitor's dinosaur.
Some people say this product fogs up..i have experienced 0 fogging..i put baby soap on before I go out and its perfect..especially with a 4500 this looks so sick..definitely recommend this to peopleReview by Rocky (Posted on 10/3/2016)
This is very good eye site and vision is incredible it fogs once you start sweating so control breathing or bring a towel and anti fog it has one flaw where the clear plastic cage part meets the visor it creates a blind spot for the puck at times making it difficult to keep your head up all the time which is a very good habit I have other than that 10 times better than a cage I'm a call up under ager so I have to use this and it works wonderReview by Cyr the dangler (Posted on 7/24/2016)
Too bad Bauer doesn't make a product that everyone can use! Won't fit on a CCM helmet, so save your time and money!Review by sean (Posted on 7/24/2016)
I play u16 AAA its great for a big game you can see things more clearly when you are on the ice. In practice you can do a mighty ducks style when you start, but all around good bubble.Review by snipeshow22 (Posted on 7/24/2016)
I love hockey and have been playing for nine years. I play as a 99 for the Middlesex Islanders. A bunch of kids on my team had this shield told me to get it. I was hesitant because I thought I would hate it, but instead it was the best shield/cage I have ever had. EVEN IF YOU HAVE DOUBTS, STILL GET THIS SHEILD.Review by Walker The Dangler (Posted on 7/24/2016)
got a new shield but the new concept 3 does not fit the reebok 11k looks like bauer looses another saleReview by hockeyguy (Posted on 7/24/2016)
If you have trouble with fogging put about a drop about the size of a dime of MURPHYS OIL SOAP and spread it out with a microfiber cloth. This will prevent fogging for about a week. When done reapply when it start fogging again.Review by Jordan Roller (Posted on 7/24/2016)
I bought this to protect my teeth before my upcoming wedding.Review by Mac Attack (Posted on 7/24/2016)
I found that this shield is good when playing, great sight lines and lightweight.
The big con for me was the fogging. I would use anti fog before each game but there it would often fog up when breathing heavy on the bench.
Good shield, but bring a towel.
I switched to the Bauer Re Act cage for better air flow
In my opinion it's the best looking bubble out there. Fogging is an issue although I've found that most standard anti-fog sprays work. It has great vision, is durable, and lightweight.Review by The Dangler (Posted on 7/24/2016)
I bought this and have never been more disappointed by a piece of Bauer hockey equipment!Review by Jay (Posted on 7/24/2016)
I used it for one game and even wiping it with a clean shirt couldn't get rid of the fog. It just came right back.
I recently got this shield initially for roller hockey. After really liking it and not having any problems with it I decided to put it onto my ice helmet which is a Bauer Re-Akt (Note that this new bubble only works for Bauer made helmets).I had tried it for a few practices and the pros outweighed the cons. The only problem I seemed to find was it was hard to drink water without unclipping my shield and moving it up.Review by Me (Posted on 7/24/2016)
I then decided to use it for a tournament. After some hits and scuffs I wiped them off easily also I recommend bringing a spare towel on the bench. As far as all the fog reviews so far, the only place I have constant fog is at the very bottom.
Very lightweight and easy to clean.Review by Jack (Posted on 7/24/2016)
I've always worn a cage. After starting to coach without any face coverage, then playing men's league, I found I was having a very difficult time seeing through the cage. I tried a bunch of cages and colors. I figured my last option was to try the full shield. I read the reviews and thought I might be wasting my time. Well I can say that I wish I would've considered the full shield sooner. The vision is so clear. It's not as good as wearing a visor, but it is pretty darn close. I purchased Fogtech anti-fog wipes and also the No Sweat helmet liners and I have absolutely zero fog. Just make sure you don't wipe the inside of the shield after applying the Fogtech or else you'll need to apply it again. Although I would say it is warmer than wearing a cage, it isn't uncomfortable and there is great airflow while moving on the ice. Last thing, I attached this to a Reebok 11K (even though someone said you couldn't). It's a modified fit, but it works just fine. I am absolutely thrilled with this purchase and I'm definitely never going back to a cage.Review by Brian (Posted on 7/24/2016)
