    Product Questions

My son is 10 and wears a Bauer Sr. Medium helmet. The current wire mask is a size small. Will the Sr. Size Avision be too big for him?

    Great Product!

I received this visor only about 6 days ago when I was using cage, and when I mounted it and wore it for the first time, it felt amazing! So far, the visor hasn't fogged up on me or gotten scratched yet, and I've used it in 2 games. I would definitely recommend this visor to other youth hockey players who are tired of using the cage and seeing gray lines in their eyes.

not the holy grail of masks like promise

I've always worn a cage. Played goal for years, and have never been comfortable out there with just a visor(though I have worn a visor for casual no equipment scrimmages). I bought the junior size because I wear a medium helmet, and the senior version looked huge. I think the jr fit pretty well, albeit a bit snug, I liked it.

    the good:
    -lightweight(enough)
-lens is very clear and distortion free
-it is pretty fog RESISTANT, much better than my non anti fog visor

    the bad:
-mine had smudges/marks on the lens when it arrived. would have thought a protective film would come on the lens to prevent this during shipping
-spent most of my time on the bench wiping sweat off my face, by the 3rd period it was hard to finish a shift without being blinded by sweat
-absolutely NO vision at your feet. I literally could not see the puck at all on my stick without looking straight down. they say you don't have to look through the 'bars' but that's not the case at all. it should say that you can't see through the bars instead

bottom line: for looking at things in the distance, it's good, as good as a visor. but for everything else, it's much, MUCH worse than any cage I've ever worn. I will be removing mine, and never wearing it again. maybe going with the clear version would have been better? if they ever put the lens on a thin wire cage, that'd probably be a good product, but this one really feels like a motorcycle helmet. you can see through the visor, but ONLY through the visor.

    My son absolutely LOVES it!

My 9 year old son has used his for a season and a half now. He loves it and said he NEVER wants to wear anything else. From a parents perspective, I love it for him. It does not fog up, pure and simple. After about a year it did start to condensate slightly on the very bottom where the shield meets the mask. I found wiping it down with warm water first prevents that though. It has not scratched but it does scuff over time. After a season and a half I will be replacing the shield. I think that is pretty good actually. As far as strength, one day in practice he took a slap shot directly to the middle of the shield from his coach. He said his ears rang a bit and it left a small scuff on the shield but it did not hurt it in any way. He still played another half season with it after the shot, so durability is not an issue.

All in all a huge thumbs up from this family.

    Has performed as advertized

I bought this mask for my grandson about a month ago and he loves it do to the greater visible it affords. So far there has been absolutely no fogging issues and he has played/practiced in various rink temperatures. The mask is attached too a Bauer 7.0 XS and this combination appears to allow for good ventilation on the top and bottom areas of the mask.

Good protection but lens gets scratched

This mask provides good protection and fogging has not been a problem for my 10 year old. However, after 6 months we had to replace the lens because it was quite scratched/scuffed. It was difficult to get the lens out, so I called the company and was told to use dish soap to help slide it out. About 6 months later it was time to replace the lens again, and this time we bought the whole assembly since my son wanted a clear frame instead of white. Now it's been another 6 months and we'll be replacing the scratched up lens again. But we keep using this combo mask because it offers better eye protection than a cage, especially against flying ice.
