Was skeptical at first but, it really is nice not using tape anymore. The glue from tape always messed up my gloves. This really grips when wet and is more comfortable on the hands. Going to try a set for replacements on my bike handle bars. Try one and you'll know what I mean.Review by Mark#19 (Posted on 7/24/2016)
Got this as a Christmas present and tried one out for the heck of it. I got the Sand White one. Easy install, ready in minutes, holding up well. The only problem I have isn't really a problem, I just think it feels the same as tape and there's no great improvement in grip. Also, the color is kind of changing, but I got the white one and have black-palmed gloves, so it was bound to happen However, it is MUCH easier on your gloves and it appears to be durable so I would highly recommend this if you're looking to save money. You're not going to get an amazing revolutionary new grip, but you'll save your gloves and spend less on tape.Review by Woody (Posted on 7/24/2016)
Important: to pick the right type for you (they are thinner & thicker). I've tried all types to understand which one fits ideal to my hands. Despite on big hands(15')i like the thinner one, no wrapped and I cut the butt. This tacki-mac is like a "race gear box" for my stick. It makes my wrist shot precise and heavy.Review by Polar777 (Posted on 7/24/2016)
I won't use a stick until I put one of these on. Great product. Wear very well.Review by Bolt Brigader (Posted on 7/24/2016)
It's a must-have.Review by ShowOff (Posted on 7/24/2016)
I love it. Had to apply my own tape on the outside because it was too sticky for me. That said, I primarily bought it for the shape. Works well!Review by RedWingFan (Posted on 7/24/2016)
I ordered three. All three ripped while being put on. Heat shrink tubbing works just as well and all you need is a heat gun.Review by Stu (Posted on 7/24/2016)
Works better than tape and pretty easy to put on.Review by pup (Posted on 7/24/2016)
Its perfect, I would not use a stick without one.Review by Rayce (Posted on 7/24/2016)
I wasn't so sure about it. I bought the sand short grip, and put it on my totalone. It felt pretty cool when i didnt have my gloves on. But as soon as I used my gloves with the stick, it was way to big for my small hands. Long story short, I do not suggest if you have smaller hands.Review by poonfountain91 (Posted on 7/24/2016)
I've used Tacki Mac for a couple of years now and will continue to use one on all sticks moving forward. Nice feel in your hand, holds up well to wear and is easy enough to put on.Review by Mike (Posted on 7/24/2016)
It's amazing. Unreal to say the least.Review by Brian (Posted on 7/24/2016)
Bought this because someone else had tried some after using up some a pair of nice gloves and enjoyed them because of the performance of them. After purchasing a "wrapped" patter and putting it on one of my sticks for a game. I now put them on every stick.Review by Feuerkugel (Posted on 7/24/2016)
it improves your grip so much!!!!!!!!!!!Review by AC Sharks (Posted on 7/24/2016)
Easy to apply. Glove safer!Review by Duke (Posted on 7/24/2016)
Waaaaayyyy better than tape on every level. I went with the "Wrapped" and cut 1/4" off of the knob to give me my usual 1/2" knob length. These are molded from sticks with actual tape jobs on them, so they look just like tape. However, you don't get all of the adhesive gunk build up on your glove palms and the grip is actually better, especially when snow and sweat start to build up. My only "con" is that if you horse them onto the stick a little too violently without enough lube in place you are sure to tear it. (I tore one out of the five I purchased.)Review by JR (Posted on 7/24/2016)
Love these! Save your gloves and better grip than tape. Will use these on all of my sticks from now on.Review by Ryanocerous (Posted on 7/24/2016)
I got one for each stick I own (2)... They work great they are tactile enough but dont damage my glove. really good product I would definatly say buy this product and save the tape for the head of the stick.Review by jhinks (Posted on 7/24/2016)
I tried one of these about a year ago and have since replaced the tape on every one of my sticks. I personally like the sanded grip best as it's nice and thin. The Patrick Kane model is pretty nice too if you can find it. For the price, they save you from having to repalm or replace your gloves too early.Review by Travis (Posted on 7/24/2016)
Very easy to use and much more durable than tape. Does not wear gloves as much and provides great grip.Review by tblfan92 (Posted on 7/24/2016)
I have bought about 7 of these in the past year and love them! At this point I have tried every grip offering that Tacki mac offers. The wrapped original grip is my favorite, my 3 current sticks all have that grip on them. The sand grip is the most grippy, the wrapped ribbed is thicker than the rest and I feel the thickness takes away from the feel of the stick and puck. The wrapped big butt is nice, but I found the big butt was more butt than I wanted and the Patrick Kane grip did not have enough butt. I remember I bought the Patrick Kane grip after the big butt wrap think that was going to be the one go to grip, but I was wrong. I actually wore out the tacki mac grip in the corner where the butt should be because the Patrick Kane grip is too thin. After testing them all I really feel the classic standard wrap is the best option, its thin for good feel but still has a nice feel in because it has a butt end on it, I found the sand grip to be too grippy for me but is the same thickness as the wrap.Review by gearexecutive (Posted on 7/24/2016)
The reason to try these grips is because the palms on your gloves will last longer, you have better grip and control of the stick, and they provide a great feel. When I do a one handed poke or sweep check with my stick I feel like the stick is part of my arm and will not lose it. Also it used to irritate me when tape got wet and lost its grippiness till it dried, this never happens with the tacki mac grip, it always stay drie and therefore keeps your glove palms drier too.
Only downside it that they cost more than tape and they are really one time use only. I have tried removing them to transfer to another stick once the original stick breaks. It is a pain in the butt to remove one of these things! And the second time i tried to transfer one of these i ripped the grip and ruined it.
these are fantastic. Takes but a couple of minutes and you have a perfect, comfortable, and durable grip. Got one of these when I bought my son's last stick. He is an advanced mite and it has lasted through 6 house seasons and 2 travel seasons. No significant wearing at all.Review by Hockey Dad/Coach (Posted on 7/24/2016)
Installation is super simple and super quick. When I first put it on, I wasn't sure how solid the adhesive would be. But after a couple of hours of curing/drying, this grip was on solid and doesn't move a bit.
With all the colors to choose from, my son was able to get a "custom" look to his stick that he likes.
I recommend these highly. You'll never need to tape your grip again.
I used to always tape my sticks, but like all tape jobs, the tape starts to wear down and loses its grip. This product is a great solution. I got the wrapped ribbed model. It's very comfortable, maintains its grip over time, and there is no way it is coming off the stick. The only thing I don't like is that it was very difficult to apply. But like I said, no way this thing is coming off.Review by David (Posted on 7/24/2016)
I bought one of these grips to try out. They grip so much better than traditional tape. The stick twists less in your hands when shooting. They are fairly easy to install and can be trimmed to your ideal length. If you get black or white, it looks just like regular tape. Within a week I put one on every stick I own.Review by James (Posted on 7/24/2016)
I play 2-3X a week in rec and open leagues. I've used these for quite a while. Seems the past two pairs have been very difficult to install...seems the tape is different. The most recent pair I got about 1/3 of the way sliding it on and ended up cutting off . I had removed both tape sides...heated the grip up in Hot water before sliding it on as well as getting the tape wet. Tape must be different.Review by Habs Fan (Posted on 7/24/2016)
The thing is solid and it's not going anywhere. Good solid grip. I ended up getting the ribbed model but you really don't feel the raised ridges as you're holding it. The only negative thing is the grip is hard, and I mean hard to apply the first time you use it. If you follow the directions you'll get it on but it takes some effort. Also, it feels thicker than tape so if you don't want a thick grip at the end you may not like it.Review by BaltimoreBear (Posted on 7/24/2016)
