Steel Sizing & Compatibility

To see if this steel is compatible with your holder, please check for these two things:

1) The trigger to release the steel

2) The edge name on the holder

If your holder does not have these two things, then this steel will not fit your holder

To confirm the size of your holder look for the 3-digit number on the back corner of the holder.

You can also refer to the current size chart from Bauer.

How should I measure my runners to see what length I need? I wear a Bauer x700, size 14, so it's tough finding gear.

Hey Derek! With the Vapor X700 skates you wont need to actually measure your steel to know what size you need. On the white holder there will be a little 3 digit number on the heel between the rivets. Yours should say 322 on a size 14 skate. The steel you need will be either size 14 OR 322. With that being said, because your skates have the Light Speed Edge holder to them that is going to limit what you can actually get for a replacement. You must get a set of steel specifically made for the EDGE holder, which means you can ONLY replace it with Bauer steel. Unfortunately we do not currently have any size 14 or 322 sized Bauer Edge steel on hand right now. We feel you on the size issue, very difficult to find the things you need. The only option we have is to replace your holders with something that is a little more universal and opens up more options for other after market brands. We do have LightSpeed 2 holders in size 14 with LightSpeed 2 replacement steel for them but that would be $39.99 x 2 for the holders plus an additional $54.99 for the runner pair. Get back to us and let us know if that's an option you might want to go with.

there are two choices for bauer LS3 blades- other than the packaging and the prices (one $59 and one $69) what's the difference? thx

So these are both going to be the same LS3 steel BUT they are compatible with 2 different holders. LS3 EDGE steel is ONLY compatible with Bauer skates that have the LightSpeed Edge holder, the one with the trigger on the back end for quick release. The other LS3 steel will fit into the LightSpeed 2 holder.

Much better than LS2's

I would routinely break LS2 steels when catching errant passes or blocking shots. 3-4 pairs a year sometimes. LS3 steels held up much better than LS2. Several times i would get hit in the skate and think the steel would have broke, and it never did.

Solid Steel

I've read a lot about taller steel being the new norm in hockey so I gave it a try, I'm a very "hard" skater meaning I dip into edges and do lots of crossovers, they hold exceptionally well; but if you're new to higher steel scene it might be difficult to adjust at first.
