If you choose a glove that is too big, the joints in your fingers may not align with the splits in the glove finger stalls that promote flex as you grip the stick.

Start by measuring the distance between the base of your palm and the top of your middle finger, then take that number and double it. This will give you accurate, proper hockey glove sizing.
