In many ways, Vapor has long been the skate that all others are compared to. With countless pairs sold and overwhelming NHL use, the Vapor legacy is simply undeniable. The Bauer Vapor APX2 is the next saga in that legacy, incorporating the latest innovations with an iconic Vapor fit.
Consisting of a standard width through the toebox and forefoot with a low-volume, narrower fit in the heel and ankle, the APX2 offers the lowest-volume fit overall when compared to its Supreme and Nexus counterparts. While the Vapor fit may not work for every foot type, those who do benefit from its fit characteristics often swear by its “second skin” fit and feel.
The APX2 is built off Bauer’s 3D Lasted Curv® Composite upper with classic Vapor X-rib design. The fully composite upper has become standard issue for Bauer’s top of the line price point skates due to its unsurpassed strength, durability, support, and feel. The X-rib design has long been a distinguishing feature of Vapor skates, providing added structural support for faster acceleration and quicker turns. The Injected Stability Lacing System makes its debut on the APX2. This innovative, one-piece construction maximizes energy return and provides explosive energy transfer with each stride and increased stability throughout the life of the boot.
The APX2 features many refined comforts, making it the most comfortable Vapor to date. A moister wicking, abrasion resistant, Hydra Max 2 liner provides a comfy, plush interior keeping you focused on the game and not your feet. The Form-Fit+ 3 tongue consists of three pieces; a 52 oz. top piece helps provide the ultimate in comfort, while two slightly trimmer, 48 oz. portions on each side allow for better wrap and a closer fit. The tongue also features an enhanced, abrasion resistant, metatarsal guard, providing pro level protection from anything the game may throw your way. Bauer’s Total Edge Comfort padding adds the perfect final touch, helping alleviate abrasions at the high ankle keeping you comfy when bearing down into those tight turns.
The boot sits atop an ultra-lightweight, vented, carbon composite outsole with Tuuk Lightspeed Edge holder. This holder design provides an added three millimeters of height (in comparison to the standard Tuuk Lightspeed) allowing the skater to get lower to the ice for sharper, tighter turns without “bottoming out”, all while allowing runners to be changed out in seconds with the pull of a trigger. The EDGE holder is complemented by a Tuuk LS Fusion EDGE runner, which consists of high-quality stainless stain fused with aluminum, resulting in Bauer’s lightest runner ever.
