With the release of the brand new RibCor 80K Hockey Skates from CCM Hockey, it’s likely that the first question to pop into your head is, “what makes the 80K’s better than last year’s iteration, the 70K’s?”
We first saw the Fantom QRE stick teased in this year’s Stadium Series between the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Philadelphia Flyers with it being used by Wayne Simmonds and Brian Dumoulin. Fans and gear heads quickly noticed it, despite its sleek, “low-profile” look. More recently, Leon Draisaitl of the Edmonton Oilers has been seen using the Fantom QRE as well.
Every spring since 1920, the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) holds the premier international ice hockey tournament. Fifty national teams are broken up into four groups and battle for either gold, silver, or bronze medals. To start, teams are randomly placed into two groups, group A or group B, based on their world ranking. This ranking is based on their placing at the previous Winter Olympics, along with their four previous World Championship placements.
